How to Change Your Default Recording Method

Innovation Within allows you to choose how your future meetings are recorded by setting a default recording method.

You can switch between:

  • Meeting Assistant
  • Zoom Cloud Recording

This is useful if your meeting setup changes, your organization has different security requirements, or you prefer a different recording workflow.


Where to Change the Default Recording Method

Your default recording method is managed from Settings.

To update it:

  1. Click your profile or account settings menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Navigate to the Meetiing & Recordings
  4. Locate the Default Recording Method section.

You will see two options:

  • Meeting Assistant
  • Zoom Cloud Recording

Recording Method Options

Meeting Assistant

The Meeting Assistant records, transcribes, and analyzes meetings by joining your scheduled meetings.

This option can be used for supported meeting platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet.

Zoom Cloud Recording

Zoom Cloud Recording uses Zoom’s cloud recording system to capture meetings.

This option requires:

  • A paid Zoom account
  • Zoom Cloud Recording enabled
  • A connected Zoom account in Innovation Within

How to Switch Recording Methods

To change your default recording method:

  1. Select the recording method you want to use.
  2. A confirmation modal will appear.
  3. Click Change to confirm the new recording method.

This confirms that you want to update how future meetings will be recorded.

Your existing recordings will not be affected.


Switching from Meeting Assistant to Zoom Cloud Recording

If you switch from Meeting Assistant to Zoom Cloud Recording, you will need to connect your Zoom account before the change can be completed.

After selecting Zoom Cloud Recording:

  1. Confirm the change when the confirmation modal appears.
  2. Click Connect Zoom.
  3. Sign in to your Zoom account.
  4. Complete the Zoom connection process.

Once Zoom is connected, Zoom Cloud Recording can be used as your default recording method for future meetings.


Switching from Zoom Cloud Recording to Meeting Assistant

If you switch from Zoom Cloud Recording back to Meeting Assistant, select Meeting Assistant and confirm the change.

After switching, make sure to click Save.

If you do not save the change, your recording method will not be updated.


Unsaved Changes Warning

If you change your recording method but do not complete the required action, Innovation Within will show a warning when you try to leave the page.

For example, this may happen if:

  • You switch to Meeting Assistant but do not click Save
  • You switch to Zoom Cloud Recording but do not connect Zoom
  • You leave the page before completing the recording method setup

The warning will let you know that your recording method has not been saved yet.

You can choose to:

  • Click Save changes/Connect Zoom to save the update
  • Click Not now to leave without saving



Important Things to Know

  • You can only have one default recording method active at a time.
  • You can change the default recording method at any time.
  • The change applies only to future meetings.
  • Existing recordings will not be affected.
  • Zoom Cloud Recording requires a paid Zoom account with cloud recording enabled.
  • If Zoom is not connected, Zoom Cloud Recording cannot be fully enabled.

When You Might Want to Change It

You may want to switch your default recording method if:

  • Your organization restricts external meeting bots.
  • You want to record meetings directly through Zoom Cloud.
  • You move between different teams or interview environments.
  • Your security or compliance requirements change.
