Meeting Assistant system error or Google Calendar not working
If you see a system error when setting up the Meeting Assistant or your Google Calendar looks connected but doesn’t work, this is usually caused by missing calendar permissions during Google sign-in.
This is a known Google permissions behaviour and is easy to fix.
Why this happens
When you connect your Google account, Google asks for permission to access your calendar.
If calendar access isn’t allowed at that time, Google won’t let us request it again automatically later.
Because of this:
- The Meeting Assistant setup may fail
- The calendar section may not load or sync
- You may see a system error

First thing to try (recommended)
- Open Innovation Within
- Click the settings (gear) icon
- Disconnect your Google Calendar
- Click Connect Calendar
- When prompted, make sure calendar access is allowed

In many cases, reconnecting resolves the issue immediately.
If reconnecting doesn’t work (full reset)
- Go to Manage your Google Account
- Click on Third-party connections
- Search for “Innovation Within,” open it, and delete all existing connections
- Return to Innovation Within
- Click Connect Calendar and allow access
This usually takes about one minute.
After completing these steps
Once calendar access is granted:
- The Meeting Assistant will set up correctly
- The assistant will be able to join, transcribe, and analyze meetings
- Your calendar will load and sync normally
