Exporting Interviews

The Export feature is designed to help you move from capturing conversations to sharing and operationalizing insights. Throughout your customer discovery process, you generate valuable data — interviews, transcripts, notes, and structured insights. Export allows you to take that work outside the platform in a flexible, organized way, whether you’re preparing reports, collaborating with stakeholders, or conducting deeper analysis. Instead of manually compiling information, you can export exactly what you need — from raw recordings to fully structured, evidence-backed analysis — in formats that fit your workflow.

Where to Find the Export Feature

You can access Export in two places:

1. From the Interviews Table

  • Go to Interviews from the left sidebar
  • Select one or multiple interviews using the checkboxes
  • Click the Export button in the top toolbar

Selecting Interviews (Bulk Selection)

Before exporting, you can select interviews in multiple ways depending on your workflow:

  • Select individual interviews

Click the checkbox next to any row to select specific interviews

  • Select all interviews

Use the top checkbox to select all visible interviews in the table

  • Select a range (Shift + Click)

Click one interview, then hold Shift and click another to select everything in between

This makes it easy to:

  • Export multiple interviews at once
  • Quickly create reports across a group
  • Work efficiently with large datasets

2. From the Interview Details Page

  • Open any individual interview
  • Click the Export button in the top-right

This replaces older export options that were previously spread across different sections (Transcript, Notes, Analysis).

Export Options Overview

When you click Export, a modal will appear with two main options:

1. Interview Media (Default)

Downloads the original audio or video file

  • Best for:
    • Archiving raw interviews
    • Sharing recordings externally

Note:

You can export up to 5 media files at a time. If more than 5 interviews are selected, the export media file option will be disabled. To proceed, reduce your selection to 5 or fewer interviews.

2. Interview Content

Switching to this option expands advanced export settings.

This allows you to export structured interview data, including:

  • Transcript
  • AI Analysis (Executive Summary, Explicit, Implicit, Thematic)
  • Notes
  • Insights

Export Formats

When exporting Interview Content, you can choose from multiple formats:

  • PDF – Best for sharing and reporting
  • Markdown – Ideal for documentation workflows
  • JSON – Structured data for integrations or analysis
  • HTML – Web-friendly format

Each format serves a different purpose depending on how you plan to use the data.

Export Structure: Single File vs Separate Files

You can control how your export is generated:

Single File

  • Combines all selected interviews into one document

    Best for:

    • Reports
    • Presentations
    • Reviewing multiple interviews together

Separate Files

  • Creates individual files per interview

    Best for:

    • Detailed analysis
    • Sharing specific interviews

Note:

  • If only one interview is selected, Separate Files will be disabled.

What Gets Included in Export

You can customize exactly what to include:

Core Data

  • Transcript
  • Notes
  • Insights

Analysis (if available)

  • Executive Summary
  • Explicit Insights
  • Implicit Insights
  • Thematic Analysis

This allows you to export anything from raw conversations to fully structured, decision-ready outputs.

Exporting Multiple Interviews

When exporting multiple interviews:

  • Single File selected → All interviews combined into one document
  • Separate Files selected → Each interview exported individually

This gives flexibility depending on whether you want a holistic view or granular breakdown.

File Naming Convention

Exported analysis files follow a structured naming format:

[Organization]-[Cohort]-[Team]-Interview-[Interviewee]-[YYYY-MM-DD]-Analysis-[InterviewID].pdf

This ensures:

  • Easy identification
  • Consistent organization
  • Better traceability across teams and cohorts

When to Use Each Export Type

Use Interview Media when:

  • You need the original recording
  • You want to review the raw conversation

Use Interview Content when:

  • You need structured insights
  • You’re preparing reports
  • You want to analyze patterns across interviews

Key Takeaway

The Export feature is designed to give you full control over your data:

  • Select interviews efficiently (individually, all, or by range)
  • Export raw interviews or structured insights
  • Choose formats based on your workflow
  • Combine or separate interviews as needed

Whether you're sharing findings, building reports, or conducting deeper analysis, Export helps you move your discovery work beyond the platform—without losing structure or context.
